What is Wind Energy

As the sun heats the earth, it creates uneven heating of the earth's surface. This uneven heating creates warm and cool spots which create wind. You can think of wind energy as an alternative way to use the sun's energy.

This wind can be harnessed to generate electricity or provide force to do work. The most popular way to use wind is through windmills and wind turbines. Windmills generally turns wind into mechanically energy to do work like running pumps. Wind turbines turns wind into electricity.
